Boardman Hybrid Comp Bike is rated out of 5 by 13.Rated 5 out of 5 by Thenuttyboy7 from Good bike for the money An excellent runner. Smooth gear changing, powerful brakes and runs well. Usual cheaper components are worth changing though. Didn't like the pedals (toes straps are difficult) and the grips were a bit harsh. Seat isn't too bad but changed it to a preferred one anyway. Definitely worth the money - especially at the sale price and with BC discount.Date published: 2017-10-16Rated 4 out of 5 by Litchy67 from Light weight quite fast Light weight and looks good although the pedals are poor and cheap lookingDate published: 2017-10-09Rated 5 out of 5 by Cosmos from Excellent bike Ive had this bike for about a few weeks now. This bike is brilliant for commuting. The brakes are so sharp and stop you very well. Gearing is excellent for climbs. Build quality seems very good so far. Very light bike and seat is also comfortable. Changes direction very quickly.Date published: 2017-10-05Rated 5 out of 5 by Kaygeebee from Great product, excellent buying experience I haven't had a bike for a good number of years, my last was a clunky mountain bike that weighed a ton. I did some research on the net and also asked friends for recommendations and this range was suggested. I've ridden the bike a few times now and I'm amazed at the quality, how light it is and the speed for a non-racer. It seems really well made and has German levels of precision. A word about the brakes, tremendous feel and very powerful, I'm a big bloke and take some stopping, these are well up to the task. Riding position is excellent, I'm 5 ft 11in and the medium frame is perfect. The standard tyres are probably not suited to anything other than road or smooth park tracks, but then I would have bought a mountain bike if I wanted to do serious off-roading. Final mention about the customer service in the Wellingborough store, absolutely spot on to the point that I thought I'd walked into John Lewis by mistake.Date published: 2017-10-02Rated 5 out of 5 by AlanIrl from Great on hills, absorbs bumps. Having been on a racer a size to big for me for a few years, my back has been getting very soar even when not cycling. I tried a friends racer the right size and one in a shop and still felt i'm stretching enough to irritate it, so a hybrid was my only choice. I was hesitant as I live in a hilly area(and had a trek hybrid years ago that was useless ) as most of my cycles have very steep hills. Previous reviews on here said the bike takes hills easily so I took the chance and now I totally agree. I find little to no difference with my much older but more expensive racer. And commuting through city is much easier than been hunched over on a racer. I got side bars and was delighted to see even though bar is 31.8 , they are the standard 22.2mm at the very edges so I fitted side bars which are to small for 31.8 diamater bar Bike is solid and absorbs any bumps easily for a comfortably spin. Only complaint, been pedantic, the bike could be made a tad lighter,Date published: 2017-09-17Rated 5 out of 5 by BuzzaB from Great bike I've had this bike for just over a week and already clocked up over 100 miles.. Not only does it look good, it is also a lot faster than what I thought it would be. I'm 6ft 2 and 100 kgm, the 54 inch frame is perfect for me and the wheels so far are holding up the abuse I am giving them. The hydraulic brakes are good too, can't really fault anything on the bike. Best £500 bike on the market !Date published: 2017-08-25Rated 5 out of 5 by Cordelia77 from Fast and light I've been using this bike for my commute to and from work- 8 miles each way on rough roads and lanes with very steep hills. It's a good compromise if, like me, you're looking for a bike that is light and fast, but that can handle rough roads and the odd unpaved track/trail. It's towards the road bike end of the hybrid spectrum for sure, and there are moments I miss having suspension! That said, I wouldn't swap it for a more mountain bike-esque model because it's perfect for what I use it for. I'm 5'5 female using the men's small frame.Date published: 2017-07-26Rated 4 out of 5 by totalvirus87 from Lovely bike, shame about the set-up! Went to pick up bike, cables not attached to frame, bell and reflector put on loose/wobbly. Went to cycle to work the next day and due to the poor gear set-up the mech caught the big chainring and tore 2 x gashes in the chainring metal. Took it back and they replaced it with one from a ex demo model (scratched) as they didn't have a spare in stock. Still waiting a new shiny one. Now gears are set-up fairly well, the bike is lovely. Fast, but the larger tyres mean that bumps are smoother. Hydraulic disc brakes (again needed set-up at home) but when tested on a fast downhill I nearly came off as this is my first time using disc brakes and they were so powerful! Saddle is comfy but for me I think I need bar ends as my wrists start whining after more than 45mins.Date published: 2017-06-27
