Boardman MX Comp Bike is rated out of 5 by 49.Rated 5 out of 5 by Lex133 from Great value and quality Can't fault the bike - great looks, smooth gears, stop on a penny brakes and all for under £500 on the deal I got... Halfords customer service in Kilmarnock was excellent as well.Date published: 2017-10-07Rated 4 out of 5 by Ste86 from Wasn't told it was a 2016 model I bought the item in August 2017 but wasn't told it was a 2016 model and I paid 600 for it. It only has 20 gears rather than the usual 30 although I did know this before purchasing. The seat is very uncomfortable after a few miles. Other than those downsides the bike rides good changes gear smoothly.Date published: 2017-09-09Rated 5 out of 5 by CommuterGuy from Great bike for £480! I commute on this bike most days and find it incredibly comfortable, granted I only do a 5 mile round trip but it is very much fit for purpose both on and off road. I have done longer rides on it (circa 50 miles) and equally found the bike comfortable and relatively quick for its size and weight. The brakes are very responsive and effortless to use and the front suspension really does make a difference on rough terrain or bumpy roads. I find the build quality great, the bike looks and feels incredibly solid. I have none of the rattles I have heard referred to in other reviews! I did have to index my gears and adjust the front derailleur though to get them super smooth as I generally find Halfords aren't capable of doing stuff like this! Lol I've also taken the rear wheel plastic chain guard thing off as it quickly became tatty through the chain catching on it slightly and I re-greased the rear hub whilst I was at it. I've modified some beaver tail mudguards to fit and put some peaty lock on grips on as I prefer these and I really can't fault the bike! I love boardman bikes, I just find Halfords generally useless, so don't let their incompetence in bike mechanics taint your view of these great bikes!Date published: 2017-09-07Rated 5 out of 5 by Tdawg1 from Boardman MX comp Have had the bike 3 weeks and absolutely love it. Rides so smooth and very fast on the road and also great on back roads where the surface is not as smooth especially up here in Scotland. Build quality is very good yet bike is so light. Had read some negative reviews about this bike but so far so good. The adjustable front dampers are a huge plus as it softens the ride on rough surfaces.Date published: 2017-08-25Rated 1 out of 5 by Cray01 from Dont Buy Brought this bike on recommendation cant go wrong with a Boardman! Wrong wrong wrong! Very disappointed after parting with £600 Covered nearly 1,000 miles since April and the bike just rattles. Gear changing very "clunky" particualary between gears 6 & 7 to such a degree when at speed your feet jump off the pedals. Took it for its first service and said gear changing not that great and when got it back it was even worse, so had to take it back again. There are better bikes out there for the same price! Embassasingly I have to use this rubbish on the London to Brighton cycle for charity; looks like I will be the charity case riding this!Date published: 2017-08-17Rated 3 out of 5 by Mderen from So So bike I have had this bike for over 1,5years.I have been cycling around every second day - 14miles/day. I had to replace the free hub twice. First time after 5 months and than after next 7 months. I try to look after this bike as much as possible. I am not jet washing, I am not cycling in the rain. Brake pads and chain I have to replace every 6 months but this is normal however I have also noticed that rims buckle very easy. In general very average bike.Date published: 2017-08-13Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous from Great all rounder Second time I've bought this bike. First one was stolen, but no hesitation on replacement. Great for biking to work and riding the trails. Good quality and spec to match. Fantastic service from the Darlington bike team.Date published: 2017-07-30Rated 5 out of 5 by Cpj2017 from Good Bike I've had this bike a few weeks now. The bike rides well with smooth gear transition and responsive breaks. The suspension works well and absorbs bumps well. Good size tires should minimise punctures. The only bad point is the sandle is uncomfortable.Date published: 2017-07-30
