I purchased this bike 2 days ago, having once owned a Carrera, so I expected a good machine, I am not disappointed. The quality is very good, and the mechanics are great. Leaving the store to ride home is all up-bank, but the range of gears made the trip very easy, as a 75 year old this pleased me no end!!. I hadn't rode a bike in a while and I recall clearly how I felt when I got my cheaper bike. The carerra is light, smooth, fast and durable. It feels solid and the ride is amazing. I use it to go to work and gym most of the week to get some fitness in. I've always been a carrera fan. I tried other bikes but so far carerra hava been my best ride. My only gripe is some of the mechanics in the gears look plastic. I haven't absolutely checked by I suspect they are. I'd rather have metal for durability. Then again the bike is not stellar expensive.Date published: 2017-09-21Rated 5 out of 5 by DJStrange from Great leisure bike or first bike I bought two bikes, a lady's and gent's, both black. Very smart looking bikes, well built and good equipment list. I had these delivered and quickly started assembling them. My only gripe is that the handbook has a list of torque settings to tighten the various allen key bolts to - these were all in fact the wrong torque settings and I broke the handlebar clamp on one bike due to overtightening. On inspection I found the correct torque printed on a label on the underside of the stem which I hadn't seen before tightening. Luckily I had a spare from another bike but my advice to anyone else is IGNORE THE BOOK TORQUES, check over the bike first and find the correct torque settings on the little stickers or engravings. Riding the bike is a pleasure, comfortable ride, good gear changes, efficient braking. I've been out on roads, footpaths and forest trails so far plus a few short downhill scrambles across mossy roots or shiny pebbles to avoid steps and the bike has been stable and confidence inspiring.Date published: 2017-09-20Rated 4 out of 5 by malbs from Good Value for money Overall a good quality bike for the money. Everything about this bike is fine except the fact that your feet bump the wheel when you turn. This is very irritating (I have the smallest size frame, 17 I think). There is no solution.
