He is a tall 4 year old and the 16in bike gave us plenty of growing room for him. We ordered the matching bell as that was a must. It’s not the lightest of bikes but will be great for his first bike, very sturdy. We also added stabilisers and was unsure which to purchase so bought the kit with extender bolts and they were perfect. Halfords built the bike up and was ready for me to collect. Great process from start to finish. We bought this from Halfords 18 months ago and my son has loved it every single day of that 18 months! He rides it ALOT, mainly on pavements but he loves riding through the woods on it and we've been to parks with dirt tracks to ride round and it survives it all. I have so many photos of him on it and the fact it's themed just means he's always going to remember 'that batman bike I had when I was little'. He's growing fast and give it another year he's going to need a bigger bike and I am going to be shedding a tear because I just can't picture him on anything else. In the whole 18 months we only had one problem about a year in where the chain kept falling off. My neighbour told us to move the small toothed ring back slightly to tighten chain around it which worked a treat and we've never had a problem since. That was also ridiculously easy to do as I am no bike expert, all I needed was a screwdriver. It's very sturdy, good thick tyres, seat and handle bars adjust. The bike is a little heavier than others his friends have but it's not super heavy and I like it as the extra weight is linked more to the sturdy frame than anything.My son is not a stand your bike nicely by the wall kind of kid, he's a throw it on the floor when I stop because Im desperate to climb that tree kind of kid...it withstands it all. We bought it for his fifth birthday and he is average height, it was just on the brink of being of being right size for him but we chose to push it a bit as his 12 inch bike was too small but I didnt want a 14inch that would not last as long. This meant there were some wobbles week 1 but after that week he's never looked back. I do not regret buying this bike, in fact it is one of the best birthday/christmas presents we've ever bought him. The memory making factor is 100+ We also bought the batman helmet and we have batman fancy dress at home too for when he's not riding it to school and wants to really feel the part. I definitely recommend this bike!!!! Halfords put it together for us and staff were very helpful. Our store have put in a proper cycle track around the floor too which is fab to be able to test bikes properly which you don't get the opportunity to do when in toy shops, so if you're near a store drop by it as they might have one too.Date published: 2017-09-01Rated 4 out of 5 by Beckstw from Good value for money Brill first proper bike - the batman theme makes it really attractive. It is quite expensive tho but it is a batman brand. My 5year old Grandson fell in love with this bike when I took him to the store to assess what size bike he needed. Excellent quality, sturdy and well made. We both liked the black design with feature bat wheels.
