So far I've covered around 50 mile on it and I'm very happy with my choice. There are a couple of things that could be improved, for example the straps on the pedals are more of a hindrance than a help. I've removed the straps & will be replacing the pedals in the very near future. Also I think the difference in sprocket sizes at the front is too big and I'm considering replacing the 34t sprocket with a 36t. I'm new to road cycling so I've gone and purchased cycling shorts as the saddle does look fairly narrow. The bike itself looked like a quality bit of kit when I picked it up, the derailier/ gear changer looks very high end. So far iv done about 200-250km and the bikes settling in well. The disc brakes gears work well (halfords offer a service call within 6 weeks for brakes and gears). I've added shimano pedals and cleates (got the shimano mtb shoes as they have grips to walk on) and its really made a difference. Bike is light and with decent pedals im able to get good miles in and not feeling too tired as went from a mtb to the road bike. Seats not bad but wouldn't venture out without cycling shorts. Bike really looks the part as well.Date published: 2017-08-20Rated 4 out of 5 by Nick975 from Great value first ride I wanted to get into Road cycling again and couldn't justify a 1000 Road bike as just a leisure cyclist. This bike ticked all the boxes for price and spec especially wanted brake discs. Having now covered around 800 km I think I can give it a fair review. Its a good looking and fast machine and performs well out on the road. The wheels are not the best and continually clunk from spoke stresses...I couldn't get used to it so have uprated the wheels. Brakes have excellent stopping power but the factory pads can be improved on and again I have uprated these as the squeal was driving me nuts.. Cable rub quickly rubbed the paint off the frame in places in first week..its purely a cosmetic thing but would recommend applying helicopter tape in likely rub spots as soon as you get the bike. Hated the ratcage pedals..upgraded to clipless. Better power transfer as you pull on the way up too and not just push on the way down kinda thing The shimano claris gear system performs great. I had to make a couple of adjustments but nothing serious.. I do some serious hills and could of done with a few more gears. I changed my cassette to 11-30 for a slightly lower ratio on lowest gear for those hills.. So a few upgrades later and it's now a superb bike. Even in its basic factory form if it was one of the major brands pretty sure it would be an 800 bike so well worth the money...why pay more?
