I was torn between the vanquish and the boardman road sport, after checking both bikes out I couldn't find much difference in the specs and I opted for the carrera and I've not been disappointed! This is a very quick and nimble bike, I was worried that at 6'1" I would be a little bit to tall but it's a great fit and makes the commute to work a lot faster. So save yourself £200 quid and buy the carrera because the extra money doesn't justify the boardman!Date published: 2017-09-08Rated 5 out of 5 by Tikkamark30 from Incredible value for money I have my carrera vanquish about 3 months and have covered 500km on it so far,I was initially a little reluctant to buy my first road bike from a non bike shop but I bit the bullet and went for it. I had to adjust and index the gears myself as it was a bit clunky and wouldn't go into the 28 tooth cog at all-not a massive issue though I educated myself how to adjust them from a gcn YouTube video and 30 minutes later they were shifting like a sewing machine and lovely and quiet too. I changed the pedals to shimano clipless and upgraded the 11-28 cassette to a shram 11-32 as I have a few tough hills where I cycle and found the 28 a bit hard for a guy of my fitness level! I fitted the bike to myself and find it reasonably comfortable on good long 2hour spins,and the carbon forks really make the front end nice and light. All in all I wouldn't usually bother to review anything but this bike definitely deserves praise as I think it's phenomenal value for the components you get-hope for health to enjoy many thousands of Kms on this Vanquish! :)Date published: 2017-09-03Rated 5 out of 5 by Richie14 from Loving the Carrera Vanquish Can't believe i have managed to get a bike of this quality for 300 pounds! First road bike I've had, previously been using a Carrera Crossfire 1 Hybrid and that was great for going on rougher terrain. I recently purchased the Carrera vanquish after an extensive shopping around exercise and found this bike to be best value for money. I can honestly say it has not let me down. I was previously riding a hybrid bike and found it hard work when taking on any incline, with the vanquish this is now not an issue with the Claris gears and the light frame it flies up hills with minimum effort and with good momentum. I would recommend this bike to any leisure/amateur cyclist like myself who is looking for a good road bike that is not going to break the bank.
