Tacx Flux Smart TrainerThe Tacx Flux Smart Trainer is a compact and realistic interactive direct drive and is maintenance-free. The swift response of the Smart electronics and the 7kg flywheel transmits the slightest fluctuations in resistance directly and accurately to your legs.
Of all the Tacx trainers, the FLUX has the heaviest actual flywheel with an effect of 23kg. The greater the flywheel effect, the more realistic the cycling experience. It uses ANT+ and Bluetooth Smart for communication and can therefore be connected wirelessly to smartphones and tablets. The ANT+ FE-C protocol enables you to train with Tacx apps as well as third-party apps such as Zwift and TrainerRoad. You can also train stand-alone; if you do not connect the FLUX, it will simulate a flat road.

Tacx Flux Smart Trainer is rated out of 5 by 8.Rated 5 out of 5 by Paul2260 from Great value trainer Done about 20hrs on trainerroad, couldnt fault. I have to change gears which is a little annoying, but i think thats more to do with tr than the trainer. To keep cadence under control. Easy to set up, and easy to use. Connection via bt and ant+ great, no dongle required. At less than half price of kickr and neo its great value. Tacx great with any issues etc also.Date published: 2018-11-13Rated 2 out of 5 by scotte70 from long cage the turbo is good. does what it says on the box however it will not accept a long cage rear mech or 32 tooth sprocket at the back. the rear mech will hit the feet when you go up the gears to the 32 sprocketDate published: 2018-10-22Rated 3 out of 5 by TwobyTwo from Poor information on compatible PC interface and cassette The Trainer needs the user to provide a cassette and interface to your PC. Although it says it is compatible with Shimano and Campagnolo 10 speed cassettes, it is not compatible with all of them. I found my cassette would not fit and had to pay another £44 for a different spindle on the TACX. I bought the ANT+ USB device it said was needed to interface to my PC. When I downloaded the TACX Application I spent a couple of hours trying to figure out why it would not work. Eventually finding the app will only work with Bluetooth on Windows 10 so more money wasted. It does however work with Zwift and ANT+ on Windows 10 but that costs another £12 a month. Information provided with it was poor. Initial trial of it with Zwift seemed ok although it only does inclines up to 10% but I was aware of thatDate published: 2018-10-11Rated 5 out of 5 by Sweetmonkey123 from Great value direct trainer If you reading this review then you have probably already read a lot about the flux. My experience is that this is an excellent price of kit that I have used now for over 1500kms. I use it with Zwift and it's great. Sturdy and powerful you can really feel those climbs and get involved in group rides and races. I have had no issues and totally recommend it. Only issue is that it doesn't like the cold and the red led will flash. A quick blast with a heater works though.Date published: 2017-11-22Rated 5 out of 5 by Ricky81 from Winter will never be the same This seemed like a big spend when I bought it, but it is certainly worth it. This thing is heavy duty, but easy to assemble, setup and connect to Zwift. Only downside was that I needed to buy a mat, and ant+ dongle and a front wheel riser separately to get the full setup working. Apparently you can use it without a riser, but it didn't feel right to me. You can also use it without the ant+ dongle, but with limited features on Zwift. Had this for 2 weeks now and I have been on it every day, it has changed my winter training forever, Flux plus Zwift makes for an addictive combination. It runs much quieter than most trainers I have used before, I find the sound of my own mech is more audible unless i'm giving it the beans. I'm no Cavendish, but it seems solid built too and you can easily sprint out the saddle without the unit being unstable. Overall, excellent, wouldn't be without it now. Big spend, but I will reap the training rewards for years.Date published: 2017-11-17Rated 5 out of 5 by Flux1 from Excellent after initial problems Initially I was disappointed with this. My Hybrid bike wouldn't fit on it because it has a long tail derailleur (as most hybrid / mountain bikes seem to have). I also had problems connecting with the bluetooth on a Mac Book. To add to my woes the Zwift App is very fussy, needs a very new iPad, my iPad 4 was not suitable. Having got round all these problems (I'm running the Zwift App on an iPhone 6 connected to a large TV) it is turning out to be a fantastic training package. Everyone says turbo trainers are like torture devices, the Flux combined with Zwift is anything but. Training sessions fly by particularly if you join in with group rides. Direct drive trainers like this are accurate and offer a very realistic experience. The Tacx Flux is also very quiet. Compared to the Tacx Neo it's good value.Date published: 2017-11-09Rated 1 out of 5 by Fitternotfatter from Won't take a Boardman bike & came with a foreign plug Other than that I'm sure it's a great bit of kit if you could use it. The foreign plug is just Halfords getting hold of some cheap knock off stock and easily resolved for a few pounds. More worrying is the Boardman hybrid bike not fitting. It's a bit of a faff fitting your rear sprocket cassette to the trainer, the instructions are somewhat vague when it comes to the spacers required. Very few words on account of trying to serve all languages in the Western Hemisphere and 2 photos where I'm still not entirely sure what I was supposed to be looking at. Common sense prevailed and the cassette was eventually fitted. Sadly because my bike has a long cage derailleur it fouled with the supporting feet of the trainer. Up to that point I didn't know whether my cage was long, short, or somewhere in the middle. I do now. So with that I gave up and ordered an Indian take away.Date published: 2017-10-28Rated 4 out of 5 by RFraser from Good product when it is working Having to return my unit after 2 weeks for replacement unit due to fault in Ant+ dropping signal. Looking on Tacx Flux discussion groups, they appear to have had quite a few reliability issues with this product since launch date. So, when it works I'm happy and good value when compared to Tacx Neo at almost double the price. Hopefully reliability issues will be resolved soonDate published: 2017-09-28
