Klarna Bank AB is a Swedish bank that provides online financial services. Over 60 million consumers worldwide have trusted Klarna to securely handle their payments.
Klarna is regulated by the Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority (SFSA), since Klarna has its banking license in Sweden. However, Klarna is also required to comply with a number of relevant Financial Conduct Authority (“FCA”) rules in the UK under the FCA’s temporary permissions regime.
Your eligibility for finance from Klarna will be subject to your individual circumstances. However, you will need to:
- be 18 years or older;
- have a valid mobile telephone number and email address;
- have a UK home address; and
- have a credit/debit card that will be valid for 60 days after placing your order.
If you choose the Pay in 3 interest free option, Klarna will only conduct a soft-search assessment that will not affect your credit rating. However, Klarna will conduct a full credit check if you apply for 6, 12, 24, 36 or 48 months finance.
Spreading the cost over 3 instalments allows you to divide the cost of your purchase over 3 equal payments with no interest. These payments are automatically collected from the debit or credit card you enter at checkout whether instore or online. The first instalment will be collected when your order is confirmed, and the second and third instalments are then scheduled for 30 and 60 days later. It is important when you apply that your credit/debit card will be valid for at least 60 days thereafter to avoid any issues with payment.
If Klarna is unable to collect your payment on the scheduled due date, Klarna will make one more attempt to automatically collect payment two days later. If this second payment attempt fails, Klarna will issue you with a statement for the full outstanding order amount, which will become payable 15 days later. Klarna will notify you when a payment is due two days ahead of attempting to collect your payment.
Once your Klarna account is set up, you will receive emailed monthly statements. You are responsible for making the agreed repayments on time and in full. You can choose to make a manual payment each month or set up automated direct debit payments via your online Klarna account or the Klarna app.
Go to www.klarna.com and log in to access your Klarna account, or if you have any questions regarding your account, contact Klarna customer support team on 0808 189 3333.
If you miss a payment or don’t pay in full, Klarna will charge £12 each missed payment.

Once Klarna receives confirmation from Halfords that your purchased goods have been dispatched/received, Klarna will start your Credit Agreement and send you a welcome letter, including your payment schedule by email. The email will be sent to the address you provide when you applied for credit.
If you haven’t received an email within 10 days of receiving your goods, please check your ‘junk’ email box. If you still cannot find the documents, please contact Klarna’s Customer Service team on 0808 189 3333 so that they can check they have the right contact details for you.
