What do you check when demonstrating a child seat fitting?

When you come to us to purchase a new car seat, we'll check the seat and how it fits in your vehicle. We can demonstrate the fitting and show you how to fit the seat yourself, so you can be sure how it works. During this process, well check that the seat is suitable for your childs height, weight, age and their ability to sit unaided. We'll also check the seat shape and headrest position in your car, the position and condition of the seat belt and buckle, that the passenger airbag is disabled if fitting in the front seat, and any underfloor cubby holes. Finally, you'll be invited to fit the seat, so we can be sure that you know how to fit the seat and are completely comfortable with doing so. Please note that if you're not confident with refitting the seat into your car, we'll be happy to put it back in for you. When child seats are fitted with the adult seat belt, it must be that the webbing of the seat belt holds the seat in place, not the seat belt buckle. If any part of the plastic seat belt buckle casing is on or over the plastic frame of the seat it is an unsafe fit; this is called buckle crunch.
