The Boardman MTX 8.9 has a lightweight aluminium frame with smooth welds, that has a comfort focused geometry designed to give you great visibility of the route ahead. The Suntour NCX E fork fitted on the MTX 8.9 has reduced weight compared to the fork on the 8.8 and features Suntour’s Q-LOC thru axle for increased rigidity and durability. Thanks to Shimano’s new M5100 1x11 Deore drivetrain the MTX 8.9 offers an incredible 11 gears controlled by just one lever. The huge range of the cassette ensures you have the right gear on the fastest descents and the steepest inclines.
Schwalbe 35mm tyres add to the comfort of the ride, but still offer grip and control on any surface with a k-shield layer to help prevent punctures. Finally, Shimano MT400 hydraulic disc brakes will bring you to a fast yet controlled stop in all conditions.

More About The New Boardman MTX 8.9 Hybrid Bike
Aluminium frame and Suspension forkThe MTX 8.9 is built on a triple-butted aluminium frame which has been designed to be comfortable over distance and a variety of terrains. The 8.9 is fitted with a Suntour NCX E air fork that has increased adjustability and the Q-LOC thru axle not only makes removing and re-fitting the front wheel easier but also adds rigidity and durability. The combination of the Q-LOC, air spring and 30mm stanchions delivers a sturdy feel, plenty of grip and a comfortable ride.
Shimano Deore M5100 1x11
The MTX 8.9 is fitted with Shimano’s new Deore M5100 1x11 drivetrain. Featuring technology developed for mountain biking, the M5100 gearing offers fantastic chain retention thanks to the clutch built into the rear mech and the narrow/wide chainring profile. The single trigger that operates the gears has a premium feel as it effortlessly shifts through the large range cassette. The 11-51T cassette gives a huge range of gears ensuring you can stay on the bike for even the steepest hills.
