You don't have to be a culinary genius to whip something up in the great outdoors. Take a look below at our easy camping meals that will fill up even the hungriest of tummies.

Outdoor cooking is all about simplicity, fresh flavours and hearty food. Thankfully, you can pick up a wide variety of camping cooking equipment, meaning you're no longer limited to beans on toast!

The key to making a successful meal is preparation. Before you leave home, plan out what meals you're going to cook and prep the ingredients first - for instance, you could chop your veg and measure out any spices, then pack them in zip-lock bags ready to throw into the pan.

Ideas for easy camping meals

For some cracking campsite cuisine, take a peek below at our delicious dishes.

1. Easy one-pot breakfast

Start the day off right with a hearty and filling English breakfast. This can be made all together in one large frying pan - simply fry traditional breakfast ingredients such as sausages, bacon, eggs, mushrooms and tomatoes over a camping stove. Once these are nearly cooked, clear a space in the middle of the pan. Open a tin of beans and carefully place the can into the space - this means you can heat the beans through in their tin, saving on the washing up.

2. Foil-wrapped jacket potatoes

This yummy campsite favourite is best cooked in a fire or barbecue. Pierce your potatoes several times with a fork, then wrap them up individually in foil along with some butter, salt, pepper, and any herbs you may have to hand. Place them into the coals or embers of the fire and heat for 30-60 minutes until cooked. Be careful when taking out of the coals and unwrapping as they'll be rather hot - but also very tasty!

3. Campsite chilli con carne

Chilli is just the ticket to warm you up on a chilly night, or to pep you up after a long day. Fry some mince and onions in a saucepan, then stir in a tin of tomatoes and a packet of chilli mix. Simmer for about 20 minutes, then add a can of kidney beans. Warm through, and serve with crusty bread and butter - heaven.

4. Bubble and squeak

Rustling up some bubble and squeak is a fantastic way to use up leftovers and cut down on waste. Simply throw any leftover meat (bacon works particularly well) into a pan and fry it up with potatoes and any other vegetables you have left. Season with salt and pepper and serve.
